AHS homecoming brings back 1950s group of friends Allen American Star

For a few others it had been more than years since the old gang got together. I would ve graduated in but I left in to work on the farm Stratton said. Motioning to Knight he added He liked school he stayed. No I didn t Knight said feigning offense. They talk about drinking Nehi orange soda as teens like it was liquor and proved their manhood. Paul had to ride a horse to school he said. But the horse died and they had to pull it off with a tractor. The friends are laughing about something else in seconds. The group appears to be a rugged bunch. Their attire tells of their roots clean but broken in blue jeans boots and large belt buckles. Sykes s hunting cap and Stratton s cowboy hat are not out of place. Sykes said he quit school in and lied about his age to join the Navy. I nearly blew my thumb off on a troop transport in the Korean War he said. Jamie and I left the same day. When I started school in it was all in the same building Stratton said. They! had cooked the meals at home and you got in a line to get your meal. Inevitably the men talk about what all young men loved cars. We would run up and down the highway in that Ford Nash Lanier said. Yeah we tried to go down the highway and take that turn doing mph Knight said. It slid over and hit the curb and bent a couple of rims Lanier said. I ve been to a few of these. I saw a bunch of people and thought Well these people are old he said. I must be in the wrong place. These were my best buddies Knight said. Grabbing Lanier s shoulder he added this is the first time I ve seen this guy in years.
